• Al Assad in Moscow

Assad has been studying Russian and taking refresher courses in ophthalmology, a profession he trained for in London and in Damascus before entering politics.

Former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has retreated into a secluded life in Moscow after losing power and is no longer of interest to his longtime backer Vladimir Putin, The Guardian reported Monday.

Assad and his family fled Syria on Dec. 8, 2024, with the Russian military’s assistance as rebel forces closed in on Damascus. He left behind a country devastated by 13 years of civil war, with an estimated 620,000 people killed and nearly 14 million displaced.

“Putin has little patience for leaders who lose their grip on power, and Assad is no longer seen as a figure of influence or even an interesting guest to invite to dinner,” a source close to the Kremlin told The Guardian.

According to The Guardian, which based its account on interviews with a family friend, sources in Russia and Syria and leaked data, the Assads had transferred a significant portion of their wealth to Russia even before their fall from power.

Assad and his family likely live in the elite Rublyovka community west of Moscow, where another deposed leader, former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, is believed to reside, the newspaper reported.

They reportedly spend much of their time shopping at high-end boutiques and furnishing their Moscow home with luxury items. Leaked data shows that Assad’s daughter Zein has registered at an upmarket pedicure salon and has a membership at an elite Moscow gym.

Despite their wealth, the family has struggled to integrate into Russian society.

The only public sighting of the family together in the past year was at Zein al-Assad’s graduation ceremony at the prestigious Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) this summer. Assad himself did not attend.

Assad has been studying Russian and taking refresher courses in ophthalmology, a profession he trained for in London and practiced in Damascus before entering politics.

“It’s a passion of his, he obviously doesn’t need the money,” a family friend told The Guardian, suggesting his potential patients could be wealthy members of Moscow’s elite.

Assad reportedly sought to give interviews to the Kremlin-backed network RT and a prominent right-wing U.S. podcaster, but has not yet been granted permission.

Russia’s Ambassador to Iraq Elbrus Kutrashev told Iraqi media in November that the former Syrian leader is barred from any political or media activity.

“Assad may live here but cannot engage in political activities … He has no right to engage in any media or political activity. Have you heard anything from him? You haven’t, because he is not allowed to — but he is safe and alive,” Kutrashev said.

Assad’s wife and sons have made several trips from Moscow to the United Arab Emirates, a country they frequently visited while still in power.

The family had initially hoped to permanently relocate there from Moscow, given the language barriers and isolation they face in Russia, according to the family friend.

But even the UAE is unwilling for now to host Assad, The Guardian reported.

  • CIA whistleblower: Democrats, Republicans united in Epstein cover-up to protect powerful ‘perverts’

A CIA whistleblower says powerful figures in both major US parties are blocking the release of the unredacted Jeffrey Epstein files, as it would jeopardize entrenched interests.

Speaking on the latest episode of British journalist Afshin Rattansi’s Going Underground broadcast that was released on Monday, John Kiriakou said that the long-promised disclosure of the files related to the disgraced human trafficker and financier, who died in 2019, has stalled because it threatens individuals across the political spectrum.

He rejected the idea that the issue was partisan, saying sexual abuse and corruption stretched across both the Republican and Democratic strands of American politics.

According to Kiriakou, President Donald Trump has pledged to release the unredacted files, but has since hesitated, a reversal he linked to the scale of potential fallout.

He said there were “Democratic perverts, just like there are Republican perverts,” many of whom hold significant power, and that these figures had a shared interest in preventing the information from becoming public.

Kiriakou said he was pessimistic that the files would ever be fully released, citing bipartisan efforts to “kill this information” and make it disappear.

While acknowledging pressure from parts of Trump’s so-called “Make America Great Again (MAGA)” political base to honor the pledge, he argued that Trump appeared to believe he could withstand that pressure and outlast the controversy.

‘CIA running systematic propaganda operation through Hollywood’

In the same interview, Kiriakou stressed that the CIA was maintaining a dedicated operation to shape public perception through film and television, calling Hollywood a central pillar of US intelligence “soft power.”

He said the agency operated a unit within its Office of Public Affairs, whose sole task was to collaborate with major studios, ensuring that CIA-related productions delivered a positive portrayal of the agency.

While the American law supposedly prohibits the CIA from “propagandizing” the American public, Kiriakou said this restriction was routinely circumvented through entertainment media.

As an example, he cited Zero Dark Thirty – a 2012 movie purporting to portray a drawn-out manhunt for former al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden –saying the filmmakers had received classified briefings from CIA officials, arrangements he described as illegal and propagandistic. Rather than being punished, however, the film was celebrated within the agency, he added.

Kiriakou added that this media influence extended beyond cinema into the broader corporate news ecosystem, which he described as concentrated in the hands of a small number of conglomerates.

This, he said, leaves most Americans exposed to what he called a steady diet of intelligence-aligned narratives rather than independent journalism.

  • America: From a Legacy of Genocide to the Engineering of Global Destruction

In another racist remark, Trump asked why the US accepts people from “sh*thole” countries he described as “filthy, dirty, disgusting,” while saying America should instead welcome “nice” Scandinavians.
    https://t.me/presstv/167550

An examination of the historical background of American conduct reveals deep-rooted origins embedded in a culture of genocide. Since the founding of the United States of America, it has spent more than 90 percent of its existence engaged in aggressive wars, beginning with the extermination of the Indigenous peoples, the “Native Americans,” of whom more than 150 million are said to have perished in one of the most horrific humanitarian tragedies in human history. This settler-colonial model, built upon the ruins of an entire nation, is presented as the key to understanding contemporary U.S. support for the Israeli entity. Both entities share policies of replacement and the elimination of native populations through displacement, destruction, and killing. Washington, in this view, sees the Israeli entity as an extension of itself and therefore continues to provide it with political and military cover to commit crimes against the Palestinian people, considering control over the resources of other nations a natural right of the “world’s policeman.”

The fundamental condition shaping the course and evolution of American history, and everything it has achieved in terms of power and material accomplishments, is described as the absence of virtue, wisdom, reason, ethics, spirit, emotion, mercy, and humanity. In their place, this account argues, prevail savagery, permissiveness, hatred, cruelty, and moral decay—in short, the negation of every human, ethical, and spiritual virtue from the core American leadership and elite personality that played the decisive role in the events of U.S. history.

America: From Wars of Extermination to Strategic Suicide
The bloody story of the United States is said to begin at point zero, when this entity was founded on the remains of the Indigenous population after their extermination and the seizure of their lands by force of arms, establishing a doctrine of expansion through bloodshed. Before the blood of its founding had dried, America embarked on a series of external wars, most notably its early aggression against the people of Nicaragua in 1833. This marked the establishment of the “backyard” policy in the southern part of the American continent, relying on local agents to ensure U.S. dominance, a pattern that, according to this account, continues in its aggression against that country to this day.

With the end of the Second World War, Washington inaugurated a new era of unilateral “state terrorism.” On August 6 and 8, 1945, it committed what is known to be the only nuclear crime in history by bombing the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, killing 300,000 civilians in moments and leaving a legacy of congenital deformities that have haunted generations. American power then extended to devastate the Korean Peninsula, entrenching its division into two states, before sinking into the Vietnam War, an aggression that lasted two decades and ended in 1975. There, the U.S. military burned land and people alike using the toxic “Agent Orange” and internationally prohibited napalm bombs.

This aggressive appetite did not stop at Asia but extended to the Arab and Islamic regions. The United States is described as having waged direct and devastating wars against Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Yemen, and Iran, employing weapons of mass destruction such as depleted uranium and white phosphorus, which killed tens of thousands of Iraqis. This trajectory continued through its current occupation of areas in Syria, its interventions in Somalia, and its ongoing threats against Cuba, Venezuela, and Iran under the pretext of nuclear programs.

As a culmination of this escalatory path, U.S. policy has pushed the situation in Ukraine to the brink, posing an existential threat to Russian national security and forcing Moscow to launch its military operation in February 2022. Rather than seeking a solution, Washington is accused of turning Ukraine into a battlefield to exhaust Russia, supplying Kyiv with all manner of lethal weapons in an effort to impose international isolation on Moscow.

Overthrowing Governments in Guatemala and the Dominican Republic
In a Central Intelligence Agency operation in 1954, Washington overthrew Guatemala’s democratically elected president, Jacobo Árbenz, and installed a military dictatorship led by Carlos Castillo Armas, the first in a series of U.S.-backed authoritarian rulers. Through this coup, Washington regained its military and economic interests in Guatemala, which subsequently descended into a 36-year civil war that claimed more than 200,000 lives.

In the Dominican Republic, Rafael Leónidas Trujillo Molina, the U.S.-backed dictator, is held responsible for the deaths of between 20,000 and 30,000 people. He ruled from 1930 until his assassination in 1961. In 1962, a new democratic government led by leftist Juan Bosch was elected, only to be overthrown the following year amid U.S. accusations that Bosch was weak in confronting communism. In 1965, Washington intervened during an uprising to restore Bosch to power through generals loyal to it, but failed and subsequently occupied the country with more than 40,000 troops. Elections were held the following year, resulting in a victory for pro-Washington figures. Secret documents later revealed in 1980 indicated that those elections were not fair.

The U.S. Occupation of Grenada and Chile
In 1983, Washington occupied the island of Grenada out of fear that Soviet influence might extend there. The United States opposed the rise to power of socialist leader Maurice Bishop, who had taken control of the island through a non-violent coup in 1979. As a result of the occupation, Bishop was executed by firing squad, and the island came under U.S. influence.

In 1973, the army and police in Chile overthrew the elected president, Salvador Allende, and installed General Augusto Pinochet. Under Pinochet’s rule, which lasted 27 years, 3,200 political figures disappeared under mysterious circumstances, and more than 30,000 others were arrested and tortured in prisons. In 2000, U.S. intelligence agencies released documents showing that they had prepared, in cooperation with the Chilean army, the ground for Pinochet’s coup.

Washington’s Support for Dictatorship in Mexico and Haiti
During the Mexican Revolution, Washington sent its forces to fight the revolutionaries in support of the dictatorship of General Porfirio Díaz, who ruled the country for more than 30 years. In 1913, the United States supported a bloody coup against President Francisco Madero to preserve its influence, leading to the appointment of General Victoriano Huerta as president.

In 1915, the U.S. Army occupied Haiti to protect Washington’s economic interests. During the occupation, thousands of people were killed, as the United States supported the dictator Jean Vilbrun Guillaume and a system likened to slavery. North American companies were also aided in confiscating thousands of dunams of land (one dunam equals 1,000 square meters). In 1934, Washington withdrew from Haiti, leaving behind an army loyal to it. Sixty years later, it reoccupied the country under the claim of “protecting democracy,” following the overthrow of Jean-Bertrand Aristide through a coup. This intervention concluded with the departure of General Raoul Cédras, who had orchestrated the coup, while U.S. troops and other United Nations personnel remained in the country.

    Conclusion
Tracing the historical trajectory of the United States clearly shows that the aggressive behaviors shaping the present are neither accidental nor detached from their original roots. They are portrayed as a natural extension of a structure built on genocide, forced expansion, and the denial of people’s right to life and self-determination. Since the American state was built on the remains of millions of Indigenous victims, it has continued to expand globally under the same banners: the supremacy of force, the legitimacy of domination, and an alleged right to “moral hegemony.”

Bloody experiences stretching from Asia to Latin America, from the Middle East to Eastern Europe, demonstrate that Washington is the world’s greatest source of instability, employing intertwined tools of sanctions, coups, direct occupations, and proxy wars. All of this unfolds under a discourse that justifies power, erases the human conscience, and reproduces the logic of the “backyard” on a global scale.

Today, as the United States becomes entangled in open-ended conflicts and embarks on strategic adventures that drain its power and deepen its isolation, signs are said to be emerging of a transition from the phase of a “hegemonic state” to that of a “state digging the grave of its own influence.” Its insistence on imposing its will by force and its disregard for major shifts in the balance of power are driving it steadily toward a strategic suicide no less dangerous than the crimes that accompanied its rise.

Thus, American history—having begun with genocide and uprooting—now moves toward endings that resemble its beginnings: internal conflict, external confusion, and the erosion of an international standing that Washington can no longer salvage through force or rhetoric. The world is changing, people are rising, and the project of hegemony long sustained by blood and destruction is collapsing in the face of a new geopolitical reality that rejects submission and rewrites the rules of conflict and power.

After Puerto Rico was passed from the imperial power of Spain to the United States in 1898, the United States implemented laws and policies targeted at the control of the archipelago’s population. In 1937, neo-Malthusian and eugenic ideology facilitated an amendment to the Puerto Rican penal code, effectively legalizing abortion in the archipelago. This reform enabled the clinical pill trials of contraceptive technologies in the 1940s, to the detriment of working-class Puerto Ricans (Briggs 2003; Preciado 2013; Sánchez-Rivera 2020). Australian media reported on Sunday that 12 people were killed in a shooting during Jew ecstatics in the popular Bondi Beach area near Sydney.

Initial reports indicated that 12 others were injured before authorities announced the death toll had risen to 12.

Immediately after the incident, Australian authorities launched a large-scale security operation in Sydney. New South Wales police announced the arrest of two people, confirming that the operation was ongoing and urging the public to stay away from the area to ensure their safety and allow emergency services to respond to the incident.

In a statement, the Israeli Ministry of Diaspora Affairs described the attack as a “bloody terrorist attack,” confirming that it was in contact with leaders of the Jewish community in Australia.

ABC News broadcast footage showing a firearm lying on the ground and police officers assisting victims, while videos circulating on the X platform showed people fleeing the scene amidst the sounds of gunfire and police sirens.

A spokesman for the Australian Prime Minister confirmed that the government was aware of the “deteriorating security situation” in Bondi, urging residents to exercise caution and rely on official information from the police.

Al-Manar’s correspondent reported that an zionist glider targeted two excavators with three bombs in the Al-Wastani neighborhood of the town of Shebaa.

Meanwhile, the Lebanese Army issued a statement which read, “On 13/12/2025, within the framework of coordination between the military institution, the Supervisory Committee for the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement (Mechanism), and the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), the Army conducted a thorough inspection of a building in the town of Yanouh, with the consent of its owner. It was confirmed that no weapons or ammunition were present inside the building.”

“After the Army departed the site, and in the context of ongoing “Israeli” aggressions, a threat was received to strike the same house. An Army patrol immediately arrived and re-inspected the building, once again finding no weapons or ammunition. The patrol remained deployed in the vicinity of the house to prevent it from being targeted.”

“The Army Command highly values the trust of the residents in the military institution, their support for it, and their cooperation during the performance of its national duty. It also expresses its deep gratitude to the Supervisory Committee for the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement, which carried out the necessary communications in coordination with the Army Command and played a fundamental role in halting the execution of the threat.”

“The Command salutes the tremendous efforts and sacrifices made by the servicemen in confronting exceptionally difficult and sensitive circumstances, in order to safeguard their people and defend them. This led to the cancellation of the threat at the present time, while Army personnel remain deployed around the house as of this moment.”

“This incident proves more than ever that the only way to preserve stability is through unifying efforts and comprehensive national solidarity with the Army, and adherence to Resolution 1701 and the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement, in coordination with the (Mechanism) and the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon – UNIFIL, during a difficult phase that requires the highest levels of awareness and responsibility.”

  • Two US Soldiers, Interpreter Killed in Surprise Militant Attack in Syria’s Palmyra: CENTCOM

US fighter jets spotted flying at low altitudes above Palmyra, central Syria, following today’s attack that killed 3 Americans.
    https://t.me/presstv/168007

Two American troops and an interpreter have been killed and three other people wounded in Syria’s central province of Homs, after a suspected member of the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group opened fire on a joint patrol by the US military and forces from the ruling Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) regime in the area.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the casualties in a post on the social media platform X on Saturday.

“An ambush by a lone ISIS (Daesh) gunman” resulted in the deaths and injuries to three additional troops, CENTCOM said. “The gunman was engaged and killed.”

US War Secretary Pete Hegseth wrote on X that “the savage who perpetrated this attack was killed by partner forces.”

Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said the attack occurred as the soldiers “were conducting a key leader engagement” in support of what he described as counter-terrorism operations.

A Pentagon official said the attack took place in an area where HTS forces do not have control.

Earlier, the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that an attack in the city of Palmyra had wounded American troops and HTS forces.

The soldiers were taking part in a “joint field tour” in Palmyra, which was once under the control of Daesh, SANA reported.

A Syrian source, who requested anonymity, said that the shots were fired “during a meeting” between American officers and HTS forces at a Syrian base in Palmyra.

A witness, who asked to remain anonymous, said he heard the shots coming from inside the base.

SANA said helicopters evacuated the wounded to the al-Tanf garrison near the border with Iraq and Jordan, where American troops are deployed.

According to the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the meeting came as part of an “American strategy to strengthen its presence and foothold in the Syrian desert.”

Former Syrian authorities consistently said that the deployment of US forces and equipment in the northeastern flank of the country was meant to plunder natural resources.

In recent years, footage has emerged showing US occupation forces using tankers to transfer Syrian crude oil from the country’s northern provinces to bases in northern Iraq.

US President Donald Trump has acknowledged multiple times that American troops were present in the Arab nation for its oil resources.
