• Zionist drone attack claims one civilian in Houla Town, South Lebanon

The Zionist enemy continued on Tuesday its attacks on Lebanon and its sovereignty, launching a drone raid on a motorcycle in Houla border town, South Lebanon.

Al-Manar correspondent indicated that the Israeli drones continuously roam South Lebanon skies and are expected to carry out attacks at any time, which raises questions about the role of the ceasefire sponsor states and the monitor committee.

Since the ceasefire in South Lebanon took effect on November 27, 2025, the Israeli enemy violated the Lebanese sovereignty over 3146 times.

The Zionist violations and attacks on Lebanon are as follows:

    1543 ground violations

    1529 aerial violations

    74 maritime violations

157 martyrs and 376 injuries were left by the above-mentioned attacks.

  • Lebanese PM sileces through intimidation: Direct targeting of dissent, criticism of “friendly states”

On Sunday, The Lebanese Presidency issued a short statement on X urging media outlets “to refrain from targeting any foreign country that maintains friendly ties with Lebanon.” It added: “While freedom of expression is sacred, it must be exercised responsibly, grounded in truth and mindful of public order in a democratic society.”

This vague statement coincided with President Aoun’s scheduled visit to Kuwait and came with no prior indication or explanation of its purpose or intended targets. Still, it functioned as a clear warning that the presidency would not remain passive facing media coverage deemed offensive to so-called “friendly foreign countries”.

Neither journalists nor the public were told who qualifies as a “friendly foreign country.” The statement didn’t clarify whether the list is open-ended, nor did it explain how one might determine whether a critical article constitutes a truthful fact or a mere opinion. Most troubling, however, was the reference to “public order in a democratic society,” a loose phrase that begs serious clarification.

Such a statement would have passed unnoticed, but at Al-Akhbar, we have every reason to take it seriously, particularly given what we’ve been subjected to in recent months and during the Israeli war on Lebanon. At the time, the so-called “friendly foreign countries” launched a fierce campaign against us. These are the very same countries that supported Israel’s aggression on Lebanon and continue to wage a coordinated political and media offensive in service of the enemy’s propaganda machine. The so-called “friends” are none other than western powers led by the US and Arab regimes, chiefly the ruling authorities in the Gulf.

Let there be no doubt: the presidency’s recent statement was aimed directly at Al-Akhbar, even if we were not named explicitly. The message came as a result of pressure from Arab governments that had recently allowed their citizens to travel to Lebanon, but now claim to fear for their safety due to “media attacks” targeting their regimes. Some in Lebanon’s leadership seem to believe the country should stand in ceremonial salute for the arrival of fewer than a dozen Emirati tourists.

What’s happening now compels us to speak out. In recent weeks, lawsuits have been filed against Al-Akhbar, some from known parties, others still unnamed. These lawsuits focus on two main issues: the American University of Beirut and the media and political activities of Saudi Arabia and the UAE in Lebanon.

Like many Lebanese, we expected the political establishment to condemn the sectarian incitement promoted by certain media outlets, and the vile smear campaigns targeting national figures such as the martyr Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah. Instead, we are witnessing renewed efforts to appease the Saudi-American guardianship.

For the past two decades, these states have poured money into Arab and Lebanese media, cultivating journalists across the region to wage a relentless propaganda war against the resistance and its supporters. Yet their failure to shift public opinion has only driven them to escalate their attacks on the voices that challenge and expose them. Sadly, some Lebanese state institutions are all too eager to serve this agenda.

Those in power and media are well aware of the long and hard-won battle to limit the prosecution of journalists to the Publications Court. This evolved into a widely accepted convention within the media sector: no journalist should appear before any judicial body other than that court. While the law technically allows the Public Prosecutor’s Office to open investigations and determine how to proceed, and while it’s true that the office has previously summoned journalists for initial questioning before referring them to the Publications Court, this current campaign has nothing to do with a routine legal dispute between a media outlet and parties aggrieved by its reporting. What we’re facing is something far more dangerous, something that calls for a much clearer position.

Al-Akhbar’s board and several of its journalists received calls from the Judicial Police’s Central Criminal Investigations Unit, summoning them for interrogation sessions. In some cases, members of the unit visited colleagues at their homes to deliver the summons in accordance with standard legal procedures. However, the tone and manner of these communications was anything but courteous. The language used by the officers echoed a style we know all too well, reminiscent of intelligence agencies operating in mafia-run states, under coup authorities, or regimes installed by foreign occupiers.

The newspaper reached out to relevant authorities to cooperate with the judiciary, guided by belief that these actions are part of a broader campaign of pressure and intimidation. Yet it has become increasingly clear that what we are facing is a renewed attempt to bully us into submission, and to push us into backroom deals in order to silence our voices.

This was confirmed when AUB’s administration called on its faculty to boycott Al-Akhbar, a move so crude and absurd it would be out of place even in the most repressive of authoritarian regimes.

Therefore, it is necessary to state the following:

We reaffirm our refusal to appear before any judicial body other than the Publications Court, with full respect for the judiciary and its members.
We insist on our right to express opinions on all matters of public concern–whether they involve Lebanese citizens, officials, or any resident of Lebanese territory. We will not tailor our coverage to suit the political priorities of those in power.
Attempts to seize control of the media space will not silence those who reject foreign tutelage. The selective interpretations of “freedom” being peddled today are nothing but instruments of repression, and we will resist them by every legal and professional means at our disposal.
We see no value in appealing to the Ministry of Information or to any so-called media unions or industry bodies. We know how and why these entities were formed, and the long-standing efforts of many to silence us.

“The milking cow has been milked dry, now suffering under the pressure…
In every crisis, they turn to it for exploitation.
Trump’s fist is designed for milking—a harsh and ruthless one.” Al Nujaba on Telegram Channel

US President Donald Trump has arrived in Riyadh on the first leg of his four-day tour to West Asia as he seeks to secure as much as $1 trillion in Saudi investments.
Trump was welcomed by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the King Khalid International Airport in the capital on Tuesday morning.
Saudi Arabia is the first stop of Trump’s first major overseas trip in his second term as the US president.
Reports say Trump is expected to sign agreements worth more than $1 trillion during his visit to the oil-rich Persian Gulf state.
The deals include investments in artificial intelligence companies and energy production, as well as arms purchases from American weapons manufacturers, according to the reports.
Earlier reports said the US is no longer demanding Saudi Arabia normalize ties with Israel as a condition for progress on nuclear cooperation talks with the kingdom.
“The Trump administration wants this trip to be a big deal. That means lots of splashy deal announcements and collaborations that can be sold as being good for America,” said Robert Mogielnicki, senior resident scholar at the Arab Persian Gulf States Institute in Washington.
“Normalizing ties with Israel is a much heavier lift than rolling out the red carpet for President Trump and announcing investment deals.”

In 2017, Trump chose Saudi Arabia as his first foreign destination, where he secured $450 billion of investments in the US.
The tour will also take Trump to Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
In Qatar, Trump is expected to receive a luxury $400 million Boeing 747 to be used as America’s Air Force One presidential plane.
“They’re giving us a gift,” Trump said on Monday, noting that he would be “a stupid person” if he did not accept it.

US Congressman Ritchie Torres called on the Government Accountability Office to investigate, saying the plane could “constitute the most valuable gift ever conferred on a president by a foreign government”.
“This ‘flying grift’ is merely the latest chapter in a tawdry tale of presidential profiteering unprecedented in American history,” he added.

  • US notifies Congress of $1.45B in proposed arms sales to UAE as Trump leaves for Middle East

Defense Security Cooperation Agency says deals support ‘foreign policy and national security of the United States’

The US State Department notified Congress on Monday of two proposed arms sales to the United Arab Emirates totaling an estimated $1.45 billion as President Donald Trump embarked on a four-day Middle East tour.

The first sale, worth $1.32 billion, includes six CH-47F Block II Chinook helicopters and a wide range of support equipment such as engines, missile warning systems, machine guns and in-flight refueling capabilities, according to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA).

The second proposed sale, valued at $130 million, involves F-16 sustainment and spare parts.

It builds on a prior case below the congressional notification threshold and includes munitions support equipment, night vision device support and spare equipment; software, and logistics support, according to the DSCA.

The DSCA said the deals would “support the foreign policy and national security of the United States” by bolstering the defense capabilities of the UAE, a key US partner in the Middle East.

The announcement came after Trump departed for the Middle East for the first major international trip of his second term, which includes stops in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE

  • Embarrassing NYT exposé reveals failed US campaign against Ansar Allah in Red Sea

    Al Masirah video

A New York Times investigation has revealed that President Trump’s plan to bomb Ansar Allah into submission and reopen Red Sea shipping lanes collapsed within a month, leaving the US military entangled in yet another costly and inconclusive Middle East operation. Despite launching a heavy air campaign, the US failed to achieve air superiority, with the Houthis downing several American Reaper drones and continuing attacks on naval vessels, including a US aircraft carrier. Two $67 million fighter jets even tumbled off the carrier into the sea.

With nearly $1 billion in weapons burned through in just the first month, Trump pulled the plug on 5 May after Omani officials offered a face-saving exit.

  • Jolani is denied Access to Bagdad Arab Summit as Iraqi MP files lawsuit

Jolani of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham will not attend the Arab Summit in Baghdad. Syria will instead be represented by ‘Foreign Minister’ Asaad al-Shaybani.

    Al Akhbar

The invitation extended to al-Sharaa had sparked criticism from Iraqi politicians in recent weeks. His absence follows a recent trilateral meeting in Qatar with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and the Syrian president. Al Akhbar

While the entire world rolls out the red carpet for Jolani, the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham terrorist leader, Iraq stops him there.

Previously, Iraq had extended an invitation for the former Al-Qaeda leader to attend the Arab League Summit in Baghdad next month

Iraqi Member of Parliament Alaa al-Haidari has filed a lawsuit with the Iraqi Public Prosecution against Jolani of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham terrorists entity, Shafaq News reported on 29 April.

In a video statement from the Supreme Judicial Council building, Haidari said, “I filed the complaint against the terrorist Julani, known as Ahmad al-Sharaa,” who “was part of ISIS organizations in Iraqi territory.”

This comes as the Syrian President received an official invitation from Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani on 27 April to attend the Arab League Summit scheduled to be held next month in the capital, Baghdad.

Informed sources told Shafaq News that an arrest warrant was issued by the Iraqi judiciary against Sharaa, previously known as Abu Mohammad al-Julani, in late 2024.

Sharaa became President of Syria after his armed group, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), toppled former Syrian president Bashar al-Assad’s government in December and took power in Damascus.

HTS was previously known as the Nusra Front, which was established in 2011 when ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi sent Sharaa to Syria with fighters and money to establish a group to fight against the Assad government.

Sharaa had entered Iraq in 2003 to join the nascent insurgency following the US invasion, which had the goal of sparking a civil war between Iraq’s Sunni and Shia communities. Al-Qaeda in Iraq sent hundreds of car bombs to kill thousands of civilians in Shia areas, such as Najaf, Karbala, and Sadr City. The group later became known as the Islamic State in Iraq (ISI) and finally the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

While fighting for Al-Qaeda in Iraq, Sharaa was arrested by US forces and held in Camp Bucca prison, but then released under mysterious circumstances.

“While in Iraq, where he was a member of Al-Qaeda, Sharaa was arrested by the Americans between 2007 and 2008. However, he was later released by the Americans themselves. The Iraqis had no involvement, and no Iraqi judicial ruling was issued against him at the time,” sources speaking with Shafaq News stated.

“However, after detainees confessed to various terrorist charges against Julani, a subsequent arrest warrant was issued for him years ago, without a court ruling,” the sources added.

After traveling to Syria, Sharaa played a key role in the CIA operation to topple Assad that began in 2011. Timber Sycamore was the largest and most expensive operation in the agency’s history, with a budget of $1 billion per year, with assistance from Israeli, Turkish, Qatari, Saudi, French, and British intelligence.

Syria Offers Resources, Normalization Talks for Sanctions Relief

Syria’s so-called transitional president, former ISIS leader Jolani, is reportedly preparing to offer the US access to natural resources and discuss normalization with “Israel” in exchange for lifting sanctions.

According to The Times, Jolani is expected to present the proposal to US President Donald Trump during a summit in Saudi Arabia, also attended by leaders from Lebanon and Palestine. The offer includes a metals deal for US firms and potential talks to join Abraham Accords, possibly involving a demilitarized zone or Israeli security presence in southern Syria.

Trump hinted at easing sanctions, saying Washington wants to give Syria “a fresh start,” while the Syrian Foreign Ministry welcomed the comments, calling them a “positive step” toward recovery and regional stability.

EU warns Syrian instability poses terror threat to Europe

An internal EU counterterrorism draft seen by Reuters warns that ongoing instability in Syria presents a growing security risk for Europe. The document states that terrorism and violent extremism continue to pose a serious threat to the bloc, with the overall terror threat level remaining high.

It adds that worsening conditions in Syria could lead to a resurgence of jihadist groups, either launching attacks from Syrian territory or remotely activating operatives in Europe.

A separate non-binding EU paper from January, obtained by Euronews, outlines strict conditions for any future easing of sanctions on Syria, emphasizing safeguards to prevent terrorism financing or the country becoming a haven for extremist groups.

    Al Akhbar

While Jolani’s Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham terrorists had been engaged in a killing spree of the Alevis in the coastal towns of Syria, killing and driving out tens of thousands of people to the Russian Baracks and to Nothern Lebanon, the EU remained silent.

Jolani’s Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham terrorists massacred over 1500 Syrian Alevis in March 2025.

When the Jolani tuggs started another killing spree against the Druze, based on some fake audio recording, killing over 100 hundred Druze members in the Jihadist style, and by doing so, providing an excellent bait for the opportunist Zionist colony to intervene in order to protect the the Druze from extermination, hence establishing a moral and military right to stay and extend their scope in Syria, none of the EU politicians intergected.

Suddenly, they are waking up in Europe and recognizing that the Western-backed overthrow of the Asad regime may have not been the ideal resolution.

As always, this putch, too, bears the marks of the British Empire, followed by the American Empire.

  • PKK announces dissolution, end to armed struggle after 40-year conflict

The Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) has formally declared the dissolution of its organizational structure and the end of its decades-long armed struggle, marking a potential turning point in the conflict that has gripped Turkiye and its border regions since the 1980s.

The announcement was made during the PKK’s 12th Congress, held from 5 to 7 May at two undisclosed locations in northern Iraq. According to the final declaration, released on 12 May by the Congress Board, the decision reflects the group’s belief that it has fulfilled its historical mission and advanced the Kurdish issue to a point where it can now be resolved through democratic politics.

The Congress resolved that all activities under the PKK’s name would cease, with the disarmament and implementation of the transition to be overseen by Abdullah Ocalan, the group’s imprisoned founder and ideological leader. Ocalan, held in solitary confinement on Turkiye’s Imrali Island since his capture in 1999, had called for the group to disband as early as February 2025. The decision follows a recent political opening in Ankara and increasing pressure from Turkiye’s military campaign against the group.

Turkiye’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) welcomed the announcement. Omer Celik, spokesperson for the AKP, described the declaration as “the opening of a new era” in Turkish politics. Writing on X, Celik emphasized that the move toward a “terror-free Turkiye” could revitalize political dialogue, strengthen democracy, and reinforce national unity.

He noted that legitimate political channels, especially the Grand National Assembly, would now serve as the main arena for resolving long-standing issues and urged all citizens to embrace a common identity under the Republic of Turkiye.

The PKK, designated a terrorist organization by Turkiye, the US, the EU, and the UK, has been involved in a bloody conflict that has claimed an estimated 40,000 lives. Its activities have often extended beyond Turkiye’s borders into Syria and Iraq, complicating regional stability.
