Japan firm says it stopped making walkie-talkies used in Lebanon blasts

Taiwan, as well as Japan, distance themselves from any involvement in the pager and walkie-talkie attacks in Lebanon.

The devices, according to photos and video of the aftermath of the attack, appear to be IC-V82 transceivers made by Icom, an Osaka-based telecommunications manufacturer.

British journalist and writer Jonathan Cook comments on the latest communication devices blasts in Lebanon that killed at least 20 people and injured over 500 others. The blasts took place in civilian public facilities, including groceries, houses, taxis and streets QNN.

“Just wondering how y’allfeel about lsrael not only blazing a trail in injecting spyware like Pegasus into our phones so governments can bump us off, but now establishing a precedent for turning those same phones into mini-bombs.”

The Times, citing U.S. and other officials, reported that Israel had carried out the operation, which it said entailed hiding explosive material in the pagers. (Israel hasn’t publicly claimed responsibility.)  – The New Yorker report.
