Today, many of the survivors of this horrific event live in the Yarmouk refugee camp in Syria, coping only with difficulty with life after the trauma of witnessing executions.*
On the night of 22-23 May 1948, the village had been attacked by the 33rd Battalion of the Alexandroni Brigade, who, according to verified records killed between 90 – 200 Palistinians after having lead them to the beach and shot them in mass executions, including, children aged 10-15, who hd been diffined men by the Jewish-Israeli killer legion.
After the summary executions, the survivors were ordered to dig mass graves to burry the bodies.
This chapter of a shameful history has been erased from collective Israeli memory.
The Palestinian village, which was at the time of the masscre harbouring 1500 people does no longer exists today. The Israelis have turned it into a holiday resort with an extended beach.
