zion*st occupation forces have intensified operations across the occupied northern West Bank cities, destroying homes and infrastructure while forcing over 40.000 thousand into displacement.
zion*st occupation forces have forcibly displaced tens of thousands of Palestinians from the occupied northern West Bank since January, transforming refugee camps like Tulkarem into what local officials now describe as “ghost camps.”
In a sweeping operation involving bulldozers, drones, and battle tanks, z*onist troops have flattened homes and infrastructure across the Tulkarem, Nour Shams, and Jenin refugee camps, pushing residents into makeshift shelters, schools, and nearby farmlands.
“What is happening in Tulkarem is an Israeli political decision, the issue has nothing to do with security,” Tulkarem governor Abdullah Kamil said on 30 June, warning that “there is nothing left in the camp.”
zion*st forces have destroyed at least 106 homes and 104 other structures in Tulkarem and Nour Shams in recent weeks alone – part of a military campaign described as one of the largest since the second Intifada.
The Israeli army claims the demolitions are necessary to “allow the forces to operate freely and move unhindered within the area.” It insists that the destruction is carried out “after considering alternative options,” and that it complies with international law.
However, satellite images and Reuters footage show wide roads cut through the camps where buildings once stood, with residents loading what little they could salvage onto trucks.
Malik Lutfi, a father of six, was expelled from his home in Tulkarem six months ago and now lives in a single room outside the city, unable to return to his shop or earn a living. “If we want to rebuild, it will take a long time,” he said.
B’Tselem, an Israeli human rights group, said around 40,000 Palestinians have been displaced by the operation.
“Israel has begun replicating tactics and combat doctrines honed in its current offensive on Gaza,” B’Tselem’s Shai Parnes said, citing “widespread and deliberate destruction of homes and civilian infrastructure.”
According to the UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA), these operations are “escalating at an alarming pace,” with entire camps now rendered uninhabitable. UNRWA warned that the destruction “evokes memories of the second Intifada” and predicted the same fate for other northern camps.
Palestinian historian Maha Nassar described the displacement as “the largest since 1967,” warning that the accompanying rhetoric seeks to “normalize the idea of permanent forced displacement.”
The mass demolitions come alongside a surge in settler attacks under army protection. According to the WAFA news agency, settlers recently torched wheat fields in Sebastia and uprooted olive trees in Hebron.
In the town of Bruqin, settlers burned homes and vehicles during a military siege following the killing of an Israeli settler.
Jamal Jumaa, head of the Stop the Wall campaign, said these combined actions are aimed at clearing the way for annexation. “They want to get rid of the refugee issue as it’s the evidence of their big massive crime of genocide that they did in 1948.”
