FAO: Zionist strikes inflict $586 million in losses on Lebanon’s agriculture

Lebanon’s agricultural sector has suffered around $586 million in losses due to Zionist attacks, according to a new UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) assessment, conducted with the Agriculture Ministry and National Council for Scientific Research.

Covering October 2023 to November 2024, the report estimates $118 million in direct damage. Recovery needs are pegged at $263 million, with $95 million prioritized for 2025–2026.

The most affected areas are South Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley. FAO called for urgent support to resume farming, livestock, and fishing, and stressed the need to rebuild infrastructure and restore production. It also urged long-term investment in value chains and sustainable resource management.
