Half a year later, debris removal to begin in South Lebanon

Hashem Haidar, South Lebanon Council Head:

•  “We faced delays due to some administrative obstacles, the latest of which was conducting environmental tests on the designated debris disposal sites. However, these issues have been resolved, and work has already begun.”

•  “Contractors have been given a two-month deadline to complete the work quickly, paving the way for the reconstruction phase.”

•  “We continue to inspect both residential and non-residential buildings, especially in the frontline villages, despite the risks and challenges.”

•  “We are also working on the restoration of government buildings, such as schools and hospitals, and addressing urgent needs raised by municipalities to facilitate the limited return of residents.”

•  “A project is being prepared and will soon be presented to several Arab countries as part of a collective effort to support Lebanon’s reconstruction efforts.”
