UNICEF warned of a “worsening” child nutrition and mental health crisis in Lebanon due to the Zionist aggression, particularly in Baalbek-Hermel.
The report highlights that 51% of children under two in Baalbek-Hermel and 45% in the Bekaa suffer from acute nutritional poverty, a sharp rise from 2023.
Nearly half of children in these areas ate little to no food the day before the survey. The war has also worsened Lebanon’s education crisis, damaging schools and leaving over 500,000 children out of school.
Additionally, 72% of caregivers reported their children experiencing anxiety or stress, with 62% showing signs of depression.
UNICEF called for urgent international support to rebuild infrastructure and ensure a better future for children.
