Reuters, citing two senior army officers, reports that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has left Damascus to an unknown destination.

Militants in Syria are now infiltrating the Syrian capital Damascus, according to Reuters.

Such reports have emerged after militants in the country took over the city of Homs, amid the complete withdrawal of forces from the area, late on Saturday.

Militants have also said that they have taken over several towns and cities in western Syria, including al-Qusayr, near the border with Lebanon.
