Army Reinforcements Arrive in Aleppo as Attack on City’s University Kills Four Civilians

Four civilians, including two students, were martyred on Friday in the Syrian city of Aleppo in insurgent shelling of university student dormitories, the state news agency SANA reported.

Meanwhile, a Syrian government security official told AFP Friday that army reinforcements arrived in Aleppo after Takfiri militants of Hayaat Tahrir Al-Sham launched an incursion on Wednesday into a dozen towns and villages in the northwestern province of Aleppo.

“Military reinforcements have arrived,” the official said, requesting anonymity to discuss sensitive matters, adding that “there are fierce battles and clashes west of Aleppo, but they have not reached the city”.

For its part, the Kremlin said it hoped Syria will quickly “restore order” in Aleppo.

“Regarding the situation near Aleppo, it is an infringement on the sovereignty of Syria. We are for the government of Syria to quickly restore order in this district and restore the constitutional order,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
