Seventy-six human rights organizations have urged French authorities to arrest Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich during his visit to France. Al Mayadeen’s Geneva bureau chief revealed that the channel obtained a copy of the legal complaint filed with the French Public Prosecutor.

The lawsuit is based on documented statements by Smotrich advocating for the annexation of Gaza and the West Bank and the displacement of Palestinians. It also focuses on the Israeli killing of Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons and calls for accountability for all violations committed against prisoners.

The legal complaint demands that “Israel” be held responsible for these crimes, urging an immediate halt to violations against detainees and the prosecution of Israeli war criminals for committing international crimes. Al Mayadeen

Netanyahu will discuss imposing sovereignty on the occupied West Bank after the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump in January, according to Israeli reports.

EU Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell: “I unequivocally condemn Smotrich’s call to apply sovereignty in the West Bank, a clear step towards illegal annexation. Such rhetoric undermines international law, violates Palestinians’ rights and threatens any prospects for a 2-state solution.”
