Israel’s foreign minister has written to the president of the UN Security Council (UNSC) demanding that it works to fully implement resolution 1701 and “guarantee” Hezbollah’s full withdrawal from the south of Lebanon.
Ironically, Israel uses or misuses in the letter the sentence “in accordance with international law”. It is audacious that a colonial state, which has, since its dubious founding, committed one breech after the other against established international mechanisms, including the IHL, refers to the very same laws to justify genocide.
As always, the “Israelis” use of the go-to “self-defence” pretext to absolve massacres.
“Israel” has no right to base its case in reference to the IHL, as there is an ongoing ICJ warrant against its leaders.
Their Western backers, led by the US, have most certainly no objections to the killings of Arabs, Muslims as long as the sole Democracy in Western Asia prevails.
The foreign minister went on to say that the attacks on Lebanon in recent days have been in “self-defence”, and last week’s strike against Hezbollah’s leadership in Beirut was to “thwart their plan to infiltrate the Galilee region and execute terror attacks against Israel”.
Naturally, “Israel” eloquently put forward its request at the UNSC while leaving out the ‘masterminded’ terrorist attacks involving telecommunication devices, which lead to thousands of casualties, maimings, and amputations.
