Shocking scenes erupted in Rotherham as British rioters set fire to the Holiday Inn Express housing asylum seekers.
The violent protests initially began on July 30 in Southport after extremist far-right social media users falsely reported that the assailant in the knife attack on July 29 that killed three young girls and wounded multiple children at dance class was a Muslim immigrant.
In the attack on the Holiday Inn Express, rioters threw wood and bottles at the police, chanting “get them out,” targeting the 130 asylum seekers in the hotel.
South Yorkshire police said at least 10 officers were injured in clashes with the rioters, who broke windows and set dumpsters ablaze outside the building, before starting a fire inside the hotel’s ground floor.
Multiple arrests were made, and the fire was extinguished shortly after.
This violent demonstration highlights the deep-seated hatred fueled by the far-right extremists toward Muslims and immigration in the UK.
