Lebanese FM calls for investigation into Majdal Shams attack

Bou Habib said that the Majdal Shams strike must have been “carried out by other organizations, or it must have been an Israeli mistake, or a mistake by Hezbollah,” calling for “an international investigation or a meeting of the tripartite committee through the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) to find out the truth on this matter.

Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib on Sunday called for an investigation into the attack a day earlier on the Druze town of Majdal Shams in the illegally Israeli-annexed Golan Heights, killing 12 people.

Hezbollah categorically denied involvement in the attack on civilians, and other sources claimed that an explosion of Israeli interceptor missiles caused the deadly incident.

Xinhua report

It is noteworthy to highlight that though the US have condemned the attack on the Druze town, they have so far refrained from even mentioning the IOF attacks on multiple designated safe zones in Gaza, which killed thousands of Palestinians displaced. The most recent attack  on the Sayyeda Khadija School sheltering the displaced and housing a field hospital remains widely in oblivion.

Furthermore, the U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said there was “every indication” that Hezbollah was behind it, though group denied responsibility, which it hasn’t done for previous strikes – Common Dreams reports.
