Israel’s army has ordered all Palestinians to leave the urban area of Gaza City, where over half a million people used to live. Israel’s army dropped thousands of leaflets over war-torn Gaza City on Wednesday, calling all residents to flee a heavy offensive through the main city of the besieged Palestinian territory.
One woman carrying her scant belongings through the ruins, Nimr al-Jamal, told AFP on Tuesday that “this is the 12th time” her family has had to flee.

9 out of 10 people in Gaza have been displaced at least once, including people displaced up to nine or 10 times – UN Palestine.

The deputy programme director in Gaza for the UK-based NGO Medical Aid for Palestinians decided he wasn’t going to leave when the Israeli Occupational Forces (IOF) declared its evacuation order for Northern Gaza.
“I would rather die in my home than in a tent,” Shalabi told The New Humanitarian in a recent interview, explaining his decision.
