Championed and led by Iran, several Islamic and independent nations demaded the recognition of Zionism as a form of racism at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva on Tuesday.

Iran’s Ambassador to the United Nations Ali Bahraini advocated the reinstatement of UN Resolution 3379, which historically identified Zionism as a manifestation of racism.

It also underscored that the prohibition of racial discrimination and apartheid is a fundamental principle in international law.
