Counter-Hezbollah parties pressed Lebanon’s caretaker government to declare a state of emergency in southern Lebanon and hand over control to the military.

This is to terminate “unauthorized military activities and its apparatuses” in southern Lebanon and to “spare Lebanon a war that the Lebanese do not want.”

It is a well-known secret that Lebanon’s Hezbollah is mightier and larger in numbers than the state military.

It would appear that today’s politicians are out of touch with the reality.
