Yemen has been mired in a devastating Saudi Arabia-led and US/UK/UN/France/Germany-backed coalition war since 26 March 2015, when those forces invaded the sovereign nation. They put an air land see blockade on the now impoverished country, bringing the economy to its knees. In the Neocolonism-style, they occupied the oil-rich territories in the southern parts of the county, trading the extracted fuel with their Western backers. The proceeds have gone to the Saudi and Emirate central banks, respectively, leaving the impoverished country without resources.

The government officials and teachers have not received their salaries since August 2016, when the legal centre of Yemen had been arbitrarily changed from Sanaa to Aden.

Over 24 million Yemeni depend on humanitarian aid. Yemen has been grappling with malnutrition since the onset of the war. It is said that 2.3 million under the age of 5 and 1.5 million lacting and pregnant women are malnourished.

Over 500.000 children suffer from severe forms of malnutrition, which is described to be akin to starvation.

About six million people are battling with extreme hunger.

Over half of Yemen’s health facilities have been destroyed.

The money assigned to the United Nations ends up in deep pockets; embezzlement and corruption among the UN workers is rampant.

In the meantime, the Western powers are still arming the Saudi Arabia-led coalition and continue backing them in their genocidal war.

Before the coalition war on Yemen started, the humanitarian aid needed was around $300.000 million. This number has meanwhile increased to $2.3 billion.

However, it must be noted that neither the Saudi-led Coalition nor their Western patrons have achieved their objectives in Yemen.

No longer can they extract or exploit the impoverished countries’ natural resources.
