However, this is not a complete newstart for ICRC operations in Sa’ada. “The Physical Rehabilitation Centre (PRC) replaces a facility that the ICRC had supported since 2017.”
I read much on the questionable role of the ICRC in Yemen. It is as dubious as the role of the United Nations. In his work ‘ Boyond the Arab Cold War’, the author Asher Orkaby renders a cautious but authentic and revealing account of the ICRC operations since the early 60s.
We are always being lectured on altruism and the significance of helping each other when in dire need. But no one seems to be impressed or ready to intervene to do prevention work in the first place. Yemen has become the playground of the most powerful nations in the West and in the East. Yemen – the poorest Arab Nation turned into the land of the disabled and the crippled, just for Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, BAE Systems, RAF, and hundreds more war machines to make big proceeds at a devastating human cost.
We all know too well that the Yemen war has been an absolutely unnecessary and utterly illegal war.
The UK has been continuously denying its catastrophic role in the Yemen tragedy and their aiding and abating of the eight-year long devastation and complicity in war crimes against humanity. We must not let the UK Government get by … this is also valid for the Iraq war.
