The ICC never bothered about prosecuting and issueing an arrest warrant for Muhammad bin Salman and his Western supporters for the genocide committed in Yemen. ICC attorney general Karim Khan had been several times called by leading charities and human rights activists to take up the case and seek justice for the people in Yemen, to no avail. However, we have been just one year into the Ukrainian conflict, and Mr Khan has already managed to issue an arrest warrant for Putin. One must be mindful that Russia is no party to the ICC in The Hugue. Hence, there will be no arrest. I strongly doubt that this notion is in the benefit of humanity as a whole. Contrary it will widen the chasm between the West and the rest of the world. Further, it will once more display that the lives in the global north are above the once in the South. Some of us have meanwhile figured out that this so-called international justice system, which has been established to enforce and secure human rights, does serve only the interests of the West, be it the ICC, the World Bank or UN. Remains to question as to when the rest of us will finally wake up.
