Farmers, fishers, or children who just want to play … no one is safe. Yemen is one of the most dangerous countries to live in, be it for women, children, or men. There is a crucial and often overseen reason for the precarious political, military, and humanitarian state in the poorest Arab Nation: Narcissistic Western interests. Western governments have no regard for Yemeni culture, heritage, or sovereignty. Under the cover of democracy Western leaders impose their agenda of modernisation. If that does not work, the leaders start showing their true colours by military invasions, embargo, and their innumerable times tried and tested starvation tactics, followed by the creation of dependency in the form of humanitarian and developmental aid.
Yemen will neither bend nor break! Watch video of daily mayhem in Sa’ada recorded by al Masirah. Most certainly, creating this footage has been a laborious and elaborate chore.
It is nearly an impossible mission to access the border areas between Yemen and Saudi Arabia due to the mountainous nature of Sa’ada, which had been equally a protective factor against invasions from the previous Yemeni government. Sa’ada, as well as the Afghan Hindu Kush, have been “the graveyard of empires” for centuries.
